Hank
Howdy!!
My name is Henry (Hank) and I live in Jakobstad,
Finland. I won´t reveal
my age at this time, but let´s just
say I was born in the 50´s. I was
brought up in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada,
which is a U.S. bordertown.
The Soo (as we call it) is a country music town.
Although I started my
musical career in rock bands, I couldn´t
ignore all the country music
being played there, and I gradually started playing
country also. In the 70´s
I moved to Toronto and soon had a country duo and
played for about 10 years
in pubs in and around Toronto. I have 2 younger brothers who
live in Toronto and I stay in touch with them via
'messenger', using web-cameras.
It´s the next best thing to being
there.
In the
early 80´s, I moved to Finland because of,
well, let´s just say
it was a 'love story'. We have 2 sons and a cat.
I have been involved in
country music ever since I came here (guitar). I
have also written a lot
of country songs. I still do some gigging and studio
work. Many of my songs have been recorded by other
artists also. Music has
taken me to all of the Scandinavian countries and
I have privileged to play
with well-known artists. In August I´ll be in a band backing up Al Brisco, a well-known steel
guitarist from
Canada, who has played with many of country´s
greatest artists.
Another
one of my passions is golf. I used to play a lot
of hockey in Canada, but
the years have taken some of the speed out of my legs.
I do however manage to get in 18 holes of golf 4-5
times a week.(my hcp is
8) The 'midnite sun' allows us to play basically
24 hrs. a day over here
in the summertime. It doesn´t get dark at all this
time of the year!
I discovered
the 'Always Country' station by accident,
while looking for country
music on the internet. That was about a year ago.
I listen almost daily.
Sometimes for many hours, depending on my work schedule.
However I think I tune in at least for a while every
day. I like all of the
dj´s, but my favorite one is Gramps. They all sound
like down-to-earth, nice people. And the fact that
there are no commercial
interruptions is an added bonus. I
think I´ll end my profile here. I had planned
to write a very short
profile, but I might have overdone it a bit. Gramps
can edit this and leave
out the uninteresting parts if he wants to.
Keep
it country, and Always Country.
