The German Cowboy

Hello to all of you country music fans. Think I'd let you know that my real name is Volker. I was born and raised in a tiny little town in northern Germany, about 25 miles away from the danish border.

I had my first taste of country music in the 1960's while watching an Roy Rogers movie on TV. I was almost 10 years old then and I didn't know what kind of music that was, but it went straight into my heart.

I got my first guitar when I was 16 years old, tought myself how to play and a few years later I started playing the old traditionals for my friends at our BBQ's. Country music became an important part of my life and sometimes it's the only thing that's able to cheer me up when I'm down. I'm country and proud of it.

A few month ago I discovered Always Country and I was really amazed about the feeling the DJ's of this radio station are giving to their listeners. They make 'em feel like friends and that's what makes Always Country something else.

After a long time of just listening, I started to request songs and got in talk with the DJ's (mainly Gramps). I never thought of being a DJ, but when Gramps asked me if I would like to become a DJ on Always Country, there was only one answer left and so you have to get along with me (blame it on Gramps if you don't). ;-)

I feel very honored to be a DJ on Always Country and a part of it's family.
